North Brighton Kindergarten provides quality sessional programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated Co-Educator to step into our 3-year-old group for a 12-month maternity leave position. Working cooperatively as a vital member of our collaborative team, you will act as an additional Educator in the classroom, supporting the delivery of a high-quality educational program.
Because this is an additional Educator role (an above ratio position), the administrative burden is minimized, allowing for just 1 hour of dedicated planning time per week alongside your regular classroom contact hours.
Position Type: Temporary Fixed-Term (12-Month Maternity Cover)
Commencement Date: 14th July
Hours & Days: Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:30am – 4:00pm (includes a 30-minute lunch break)
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery: Work under the direction of the Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) to assist with the implementation of an inclusive, engaging, and reflective educational program tailored to children's individual strengths.
Active Supervision & Care: Maintain child-to-educator ratios and engage in active supervision at all times, taking every reasonable precaution to protect children from hazards and injury. Attend to the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children.
Inclusivity & Culture: Support each child as a unique individual, promote inclusive practices, and assist in embedding First Nations perspectives into daily interactions and practice.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to the National Quality Framework (NQF), relevant legislation, Child Safe Standards, and kindergarten policies. Maintain classroom cleanliness, minimize occupational hazards, and assist with compliance documentation as directed.
Team & Community Collaboration: Work closely and professionally with other staff members, sharing housekeeping and setup/pack-up duties. Encourage positive partnerships with parents and families.
Qualifications & Requirements
An approved Diploma level Education and Care qualification (or equivalent), or evidence that you are actively working towards an approved qualification in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
A current Employee Working With Children Check.
A current approved First Aid qualification, including Anaphylaxis, Epipen, and Emergency Asthma Management training.
Completion of the PROTECT: Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for the Early Childhood Sector online module.
Sound working knowledge of Child Safe legislation, the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), and the National Quality Standards (NQS).
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
